Yesterday some preliminary numbers dropped (via Hits Daily Double), but here’s the ‘final’ sales numbers for Marshall’s Recovery. According to Billboard, Em’s latest album sold a whopping 741,000 copies in its’ first week. This becomes his 6th straight #1 album. Congrats to this dude!
“Recovery’s” debut week sales surpasses the first week of Eminem’s last set, “Relapse,” which began at No. 1 in 2009 with 608,000. It also beats the opening of 2005’s “Curtain Call: The Hits” which entered at No. 1 with 441,000 in 2005.
Eminem’s new album also wows digitally, as downloads made up 255,000 of its first week. That’s the second-biggest digital week for an album in history. Only Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” notched a larger frame, when it debuted with 288,000 downloads in the summer of 2008.
Despite not having album out yet, the Young Money princess Nicki Minaj continues her streak of hot collabos and features. Over the weekend, BET Executive Vice President Stephen Hill revealed to Rap-Up that Kanyeezy will have a track with Nicki on Good Ass Job. Here’s what he said:
BET’s Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill was one of the lucky few invited to hear Mr. West’s eagerly-anticipated new project. “He’s got a track with Nicki Minaj that’s so dope,” he exclusively revealed to Rap-Up.com. “You won’t believe it when you hear it.”
Swizz Keys is in trouble with the tax man again. According to public records, Alicia Keys’ fiancé was slapped with an IRS lien of $652,727 on June 3 for unpaid 2008 income tax. He has had a string of liens filed against him and his former wife, Mashonda, in New York, Georgia and California. Their debts stand at about $2.2 million. A lawyer for Beatz said, “We have been discussing the issue with the government for years and are currently negotiating an amicable resolution of the dispute.” ~NYPost
Tell em how you really feel, Ursher! The world famous entertainer recently told The Daily Star that he feels British acts such as Taio Cruz and Jay Sean should be classed as pop music as they are bring the down the value of R&B:

Apparently, Prince is gearing up for the release of another studio album (his 27th) titled 20Ten sometime in July. According to internet reports, the album will make its debut in Belgium on July 10th free with Het Nieuwsblad newspaper and in Germany on July 22nd, 2010 with Rolling Stone magazine. The magazine has also published an article based upon a preview of the album along with a track list, but there are also some rumors going on that it may be a double CD.

Former Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man pleaded guilty on Monday to evading state taxes over a four-year period, costing the music star more than $100,000 in fines and fees. The rapper, 39, whose real name is Clifford Smith, was arrested in October 2009 owing nearly $33,000 to the New York state government from 2004 through 2007.
His attorney, Peter M. Frankel, said the mistake was caused by a previous accountant, who has since been replaced. “He had business people who were supposed to file, but didn’t,” Frankel said. “As soon as he found about it, he took responsibility.” Method Man ended up paying a total of $106,000 in back taxes, penalties, fines and interest. reuters
Chris Breezy was finally allowed to pay tribute (a year later to the greatest musician/entertainer that ever lived and he did not disappoint in single-handedly bodying any and every MJ tribute I’ve seen thus far. It has been confirmed by his rep that R&B singer Ne-Yo is expecting his first child with girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, MTV has announced.
“I am 30, and I do have my first child (due in January) on the way, and I’m very, very, very excited about that,” the music star has said.
Shaw had her first ultrasound done recently, but the doctor could not determine the sex of the baby because he or she was curled up in the womb. Ne-Yo reportedly called the child “stubborn,” adding that “they didn’t get that one from me.”
Drizzy stopped by Jimmy Kimmel’s show to promote his album Thank Me Later. While on the show, he hit the couch to discuss his stint on Degrassi, being Jewish, linking up with Lil Wayne (dead @ his impersonation), and advice from Weezy. The official press release has been sent out for John Legend’s upcoming album Wake Up with The Roots. The upcoming CD will be released on September 21st (via Sony/Columbia), and will feature soulful music from the 60′s and 70′s.
