T-Pain Set To Join Young Money? [Video]

December 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Rumor has it that T-Pain has reportedly signed a deal with Young Money. In the clip above, jeweler Gabriel Jacobs shows off a new Young Money/ Nappy Boy pendant piece to DJ Vlad, which he is exclusively crafting for the Nappy Boy head honcho. With over 200 karats in rubies and 300 karats in diamonds, the piece is supposedly worth an estimated $45,000 (he  says it runs for $100k with the chain). The move makes sense, in terms of tracks he and Wayne have already worked on together, and the collaborative project they’re set to release. Now, let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth…to make it official tissue.

Ms. Minaj saves the best for last, as she closes out the year with her most tasteful cover yet. In the latest issue of KING, the YM diva discusses the possibility of acting in the future, what sort of roles she’d play, and the type of of men she prefers. More excerpts below:

History has shown that acting is the likeliest transition for rappers. Considering your background, do you want to dabble in Hollywood?

NICKI MINAJ: Of course.

What would be your dream role?

I’d like to play someone in a Tim Burton movie, where I get dressed up and painted and crazy.

You kind of do that now.

Then I want to be able to do some action stuff, like Angelina Jolie.

Projected Sales Numbers For Jamie Foxx, Keyshia Cole & Keri Hilson’s Albums

December 22, 2010 Leave a comment

Oscar/Grammy award winner Jamie Foxx may have lots more partying to do before the year comes to an end, if he hasn’t done enough these past few weeks. The multi-talented singer and actor released his latest album Best Night of My Life this Tuesday, and according to the industry insiders, the project is on pace to move a cool 120-130k copies in its first week. R&B singer Keyshia Cole, who also dropped her fourth solo album Calling All Hearts this week (first since giving birth earlier this year), is expected to sell around the same numbers, while Keri Hilson’s sophomore project No Boys Allowed is projected to do around 90-100k. Thank god for those fan-bases, huh?

Props to HDD.

G. Dep Confesses To 1993 Murder

December 18, 2010 Leave a comment

This has to be craziest shit I’ve heard in a minute. Rapper G.Dep, formerly part of Puff’s Bad Boy Records (circa 2001), recently turned himself in for a murder he committed 17 years ago. The rapper whose real name is Trevell Coleman walked into the 25th Precinct in Harlem last Wednesday, where he fessed up to the killing of a Queens man outside an East Harlem PJ’s. Dep has had his fair share of up and downs throughout the years. Back in 2009, a hopeful Dep sat down with Ms. Drama to speak on his drug addiction (heroin), and also discussed a possible comeback to the music scene. But as you can see from this documentary clip taken from Media Gasface’s NYC Minute series, the rapper still appeared to be battling some demons.

Props to XXL.

Bangladesh Says Lil Wayne’s Single Was Initially for T.I.

Bangladesh tells BET that Lil Wayne’s latest single “6’7″ was originally intended for T.I. He states that due to his situation with Wayne’s camp (over unpaid royalties,) he considered Tip for the track instead of Weezy. Bang explains:

“Due to the situation and the circumstances of the Cash Money situation, I really wasn’t thinking about Wayne at that moment when I made it. I just knew that the beat was a big track and I couldn’t at the time think of nobody that could swag this out like that or was worthy enough of this beat really.”

“I was actually sending the beat to Gee for T.I.,” he revealed. “I mean, not that I think T.I. would sound good on the beat, they were just looking for a single and somebody said, ‘Man, send that to Gee, T.I. need something.‘

“I already dealt with T.I., I know how T.I. is, I knew he wouldn’t really be rocking this beat right there, so I sent it anyway. And Gee just hit back talking about Wayne. ‘Man, Wayne’ll kill this, Wayne’ll kill this,’ so I had to really see if I wanted to do it or not, but they’ve been communicating, they’ve been reaching out.”
