August 27, 2010 Leave a comment

Although Mark Ronson is gearing up to release his brand new album Record Collection (due out September 28th), he recently revealed to Billboard.com that he has started work on another high profile project. According to the producer/artist, he will soon hit the studio to carve out some material for D’Angelo’s third solo album.

“I’m going into the studio… to work a bit on his record, and I have equal parts intimidation and awe and excitement.”

Ronson didn’t share too much on the album or how far along the project is, but he did say that “I know he’s been working nonstop. It’s not like they’ve been sitting on their asses.” Hopefully D has left those overpaid hookers alone, and is ready to make his mark on the R&B game once again.

Russell Simmons Reacts To Mosque-Ground Zero Controversy

August 25, 2010 1 comment

Here’s a shot of Russell Simmons’ apartment perched near Ground Zero, his windows composed of images of religious symbols that spell out C-O-E-X-I-S-T. Uncle Rush spoke with the NY Daily News about the controversy surrounding a mosque being built, two blocks away from Ground Zero:

“I hope some yogi sees om. I hope that some Christian sees the cross. I hope that some Jewish person sees Star of David. I want people to see their images. That’s the idea to coexist and to learn to love each other. I’m appalled that there’s even a dialogue about it…Roughly two billion muslims in the world did not attack us. America is using the mosque and Ground Zero as a mask for its own Islamophia.”

Faith Evans Busted For DUI in California

August 22, 2010 Leave a comment

And just when I was praising Faith for her comeback to the scene, she ends up doing dumb stuff like this. When will artists ever learn? Bad publicity to the tenth power. Shrugs…

R&B singer Faith Evans was arrested earlier this morning on suspicion of DUI, near Marina Del Ray, California.

Faith, who was once married to legendary rapper Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace, was stopped at a checkpoint when officers detected alcohol.

According to TMZ.com, police arrested Faith for being intoxicated, although her blood alcohol level was not known as of press time.

This is not Faith Evans’ first brush with the law. In 2004, Faith and her husband/manager Todd Russaw were arrested in an Atlanta suburb for possessing marijuana and cocaine.- AHH

Below is the official trailer for her forthcoming LP, Something About Faith, in stores October 5th.

August 18, 2010 Leave a comment

Em’s Recovery recovers the #1 spot he’s held with an iron fist since release after two weeks of sitting by in the runner-up slot. It climbs back to the top with 133,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan (down 13%), being the most weeks at No. 1 for an album since Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream claimed six straight frames at the top in December and January. So far the album has sold a whopping 2.1 million copies. (Source)
